Anti-Christian/Religion Protest

Post by doubledogpaleale » Sat January 29th, 2011, 10:25 pm

Apperently there is going to be a anti-christian/religion protest somewhere in atlanta, and a friend of mine wants me to help spread the word and get some ideas. I think people have already signed up. So post ideas, thoughts, etc here and he'll check it. So here is a flyer he made:

Thanks,

Clip art? It was probably done with MS Paint or something.

Keep in mind that I am an atheist, but going off this flyer, what do they, the organizers/protesters hope to gain out of this? Just piss people off? Just appears to be too general to do anything worthwhile. I could have missed something too.

I know. Just clip art at least looks halfway decent. Coming from someone who's spent a good amount of time screwing around on MS Paint, I could make that exact cross thing with a few lines and circles.

Now don't get me wrong as I dislike organized religion as much as the next metalhead but something like this seems counter productive if your goal is to change peoples minds about their beliefs.

Like those anti-gay protesters with their "God Hates Fags" signs. They're not changing anybody's mind, all their doing is looking like a bunch of assholes who can't accept the fact that people are different.

Is organized religion a joke? Yes.
Has it caused huge problems/wars/death over the history of the human race? Yes.
Is a bunch of metalheads/punks protesting in front of a church going to make anyone change their mind about their beliefs? No.

So basically, if you're serious, burn a church down and make a statement... or if you're goal is to make funny signs and have a laugh then that's cool too :D
