Post by BlazeTSU » Sun August 7th, 2005, 9:53 pm

i want to know a little more about this atlanta metal comp. are there any standards you are holding bands to, or are you letting the first 20 bands with $50 on it even if they suck? also, what can we expect as far as artwork is concerned? what else can you tell us about this thing atlmetal.

We are not setting any standers, if a band is willing to help us out with the cost of the pressing and packaging of these discs then we are more then willing to let them be on the comp. I mean who is to say that a band can not be on this comp because someone thinks "they suck" when yes, some bands are more talented then others. But the way we see it, so what if some of the bands on this comp and not as good as others, this will just make those bands look that much better and they are all getting their band heard by 1,000's of new people, venues, other bands, etc.

The art work is pretty much going to follow the theme of ATLmetal.com with the flame in the back ground and the text over it. Nothing extreamly fancy but powerful! I am going to design the front and back and post it on ATLmetal.com in a couple days so you can check back for that.

ATLmetal.com was set up mainly to help bands promote to 1,000's of new people in the Atlanta area. We offer FREE web hosting for music and pics. a FREE band profile where you can list your Members, Bio, Discography, Websites, Email, Record Label, Genre, etc. When you are signed up as a band are logged in to your profile you can also post News to ATLmetal.com's front page. We also do reviews of your music for FREE. We will try to make it to atleast one of your shows to take pics and video for the "Exclusives" section of the site.

Basically, ATLmetal.com was setup for the local heavy music scene of Atlanta. We are trying to help unite and grow the scene as much as possible. We LOVE heavy music and just wanted to help!

Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you, and we will try our best!

Thanks for your support!
KEEP IT HEAVY!

i should clarify myself better. what i mean by standards is things like production, genre, serious bands.....etc.....etc.... i don't think that it will serve us well at all to have a bunch of songs that were recorded on a boombox in someones bedroom(unless they are too KVLT for studios). also it won't serve the metal scene much good if you get 5 or 6 rock bands on the comp. and it won't represent the atlanta metal scene very well if its full of bands that dont' actually play shows or promote themselves.....or who just aren't an active part of the hardworking bands in the scene.

and you won't find many people around here more into helping local bands and atlanta metal than me. i started the original atlanta metal message boards and i go to as many local shows as possible as well as play in The Souls Unrest.

You are basically contradicting your self here. Why would a band PAY $50.00 to be put on a compilation if they were not A serious band with a good recording that they really wanted to promote and work hard at promoting???

Yes, if a band tried to submit a horrible recording I would ask if they could provide a better one.

Also, this compilation is for ATLmetal.com bands only. I know this may seem wrong but I am just trying to help promote the bands who have taken the time to register with us, simply a way of saying thanks. Understand that this in no way means that we don?t have love for the other local metal and hardcore bands of ATL. I would just really like to be able to put as a note of the album ?All bands on this album can be found at www.atlmetal.com? or something like that.

Know that if I am willing to put ATlmetal.com?s name on this album, I am going to make sure every aspect of it is the best it can be.

That is awesome you started the original atlanta metal message board, and that you hit a lot of local shows, I do myself. We should try to hit a local show sometime and talk more.

since when does having 50 bucks equal having a good recording and being serious ? watch how you talk to people actually invovled in the scene .. having a gay website doesnt equal you being active in the scene if it did you and level would be the kings of the town

if there are no standards for this compilation it is bound to be a disaster as blaze has said. And if its open to everyone then I bet a bunch of the bands on the compilation won't even represent atlanta metal, and be hardcore or metalcore or some shit.

thanks again for callin us out. any way i think the comp is a great idea but should definatly have high standards. there are far to many bands not willing to go out and pass out flyers to their own shows. 50 bucks isnt much, so a lot of bands will jump on it just to get their name out there, then in a month they already fired 5 different guitar players, found 2 new singers, and arent playing as the same band anymore.
hope you all fucking rot

Where exactly did I say that having $50 equals having a good recording and being serious? Oh wait, that?s right, I didn't. What I did say was I didn't believe a band would pay $50 to try and promote a shitty recording. If we did receive a submission of a badly recorded song, like I said, we would ask them to provide a better recorded song.

I have been going to as many local metal and hardcore shows as I can possibly get to. I am sorry you feel the website is gay, but never once did I say that you have to go to it.

Damn, this has got to be the most negative forum I have ever been on. Full of cocky ass people who think they know everything there is to know about the heavy music scene. I mean shit, you people realize all I am trying to do is help out some bands that are willing to help themselves. If this comp. goes down in flames, which I am sure it won?t, who gives a shit. This is a learning experience as well, it can only get better.

I understand everyone?s point with the standers. That is the kind of feedback I would welcome, negative or positive as long as it is getting somewhere. This shit about, your website is gay, is absolutely childish and immature, fucking grow up or shut up.

i'm not trying to attack you here. you have to understand that i, along with many others here have talked about doing things like this for a while. unfortunatly we haven't had time, money....etc..etc.to get them going. i'll get you a link to the old boards and you can read about how we all talked about this stuff in 2003( http://p088.ezboard.com/batlantametal ). but if you are going to be putting out things with atlanta metal on it, then i think it should have standards.

and secondly, i know of plenty of horrible bands that aren't serious that would give you $50 bucks in a second just to put them on the comp and pimp it on myspace to boost their friends list.

as far as the commercial thing goes, you did leave a couple of paragraphs more than your answer to my question.

i'd love to go check out some shows with you and get to know you a little better. i'd feel better about working with you if i knew you a little better.
