good books

any thing of intrest out there? i just finished clive barkers- the inhuman condition. not bad. and almost done with the whole cronicles of narnia, (decided to read em before the movie comes out.)

But seriously, the last book I read was Choosing Death: The History of death metal and grindcore or something like that..it was pretty good, although it left some things out.

Also, a biography on the Ramones that was done before Johnny died. I can't remember the name because there are several books on them, but this one did go into deeper territory on some of the issues that were on the "End of the Century" DVD

The last good book I read was Burning Chrome by William Gibson, it's a collection of a bunch of his short stories. That god awful movie Johnny Mnemonic came from there, but naturally is a much better read than watching Keanu Reeves zombie his way through another sci-fi movie, seeing motherfucking Ice-T on a screen with dog ears on his head, and a super dolphin who can read minds.

I haven't read that whole book but i've read that story and it is definitely better than the movie. Then again the story didn't have Keanu Reeves, Ice-T, and Henry Rollins in it.
Count Zero and Neuromancer are both really good; also by William Gibson.

The Last Samurai:The Life and Battles of Saigo Takamori - Mark Ravina
Flames Across The Border - Pierre Berton *just finished
Naked Empire - Terry Goodkind *just finished
All Creatures Great and Small - James Herriot *re-reading

All are worth spending time with.

Yeah I love Clive Barker. Sacrament, Imagica and Coldheart Canyon are probably my favorites. And the Books of Blood collections.

Currently I'm reading House Atreides by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson. It's the first of the Dune prequels. It's not bad, but of course it's not Frank Herbert.

Have you read any other William Gibson? He's one of my favorite authors. I read Pattern Recognition this summer. It's but good, but at the same time lacks something.
