When you say 'prog metal band', this in the vein of what? What are you looking for in a bassist and keys in terms of personality and what do you want them to bring to the table creatively?

The influences would be something like maiden, dream theater, symphony x, king diamond, queensryche.

Would just be looking for someone thats a cool guy and easy to get along with. As for playing, you should be able to play in mixed meter and tempos and put your input into the songs

Cool deal. Those bands aren't my thing, but mixed meter and tempos are always fun. I just thought it might help on this thread to have a bit about where you wanna go on it.

Personally, I like to either go balls heavy or jazz. haha. No in between. Not unlike how I keep my hair. I have to keep it really long or very short. Buzzed on the sides and back and just long enough on the top to not stand up. haha.

...that and I play electric upright. A BIG no no for most metal bands.

Unrelated note: I have an 8 string upright coming!

I am WAY pumped about it. It is an electric like my 4 string upright. This one will be trans-black no less. Very Happy

I play some keys. It's not my first choice for an instrument but I can have fun doing that. I'm no Rudess or that guy from Symphony X, but I am an extremely fast learner. I've been writing songs for most of my life so I can definitely help in that department.

If you'd like to hear some of my shitty playing; there's a keyboard solo near the end of this song:
