https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtN_kufdnEY
(2 piece w/ drummer from DER playing a weird mash up of styles including grindcore, there's black metal stuff in there, sludgy shit, punk, it rules. Self described as a 'nomadic' grindcore band, they only play generator shows in public places)

(Stupid cover art but solid deathgrind in the vein of Exhumed etc)

LVTHN -- Adversarialism. I don't know if this is going to have any staying power, but I'm enjoying it right now and will be looking to get it on vinyl.

Melvins -- Bullhead. If you guys haven't heard this record, you should do yourselves a favor. I don't know if it is possible for it to be received in the same spirit as when it dropped in 1991. But I don't think it is too strong to say that this record changed my life, because it was just so very different than anything else that I had heard that came before. The initial track was the first song that I heard that was radically down tuned. (To A). "Your Blessened" is epic as fuck. This record, for me, is a stranded-on-a-desert-island record.

I am not mature/intelligent enough for the Melvins. And while we're at it, I hate the Pixies. THERE, I SAID IT.

Thanks to badcarburetor, I am listening to:
Leatherface - Fill Your Boots

Y'all, I wore my August Underground's Mordum hoodie to work today. That was probably a bad idea.

I'm with totally with you on both of those.

Shit yeah! next you need to the albums, Mush, Minx and Cherry Knowle. I'll throw them on a jump drive for you. One the very best and most underrated bands ever. No hyperbole.

Ten years on, Mastodon's "Blood and Thunder" still rocks. Strangely, I haven't been compelled to check their later releases, because I have the impression that they are too squiddily.
