That's ok dan. I meant F'n Dan (in case you mistook my comment) in my last post because well, he was there! It's supposed to end up in the archive but it wasn't there earlier today. I'm sure it'll end up there soon. It went pretty well. It's difficult to hear our conversations but the music turned out pretty good. Someone was a little "knob happy" at times but you can hear everything well.

You remember when you guys asked me what I thought of the sound and I went, "uhhhhhhmmmmm...", well, the "knob happy" bit is why. And no, it wasn't me. I'll go into more detail with you later Mike, but a lot of problems arose with gating the mics. I'll be honest, I don't know much about gates. I never use gates with my guitar rig, so I can't really set them up. Hence, I didn't. In fact, I would have prefered we didn't use them, but, we had a TON of bleeding in the mics, so I thought it would help the sound. As it turns out, in between every song, we couldn't hear what you guys were saying. We'd completely disable the gates, and we still couldn't hear anything. Then, when the song would start, everything would be off, and we'd have to reset it. Sometimes however, the gate starting acting up on its own. I think on Like Locusts, at the beginning, the really weird thing that happens was just the gate on its own. Apparently you guys were loud enough to activate the gate on the host mic, and it screwed up everything. In general though, the guy helping me is supposed to be the more experienced "sound engineer". He did the "bring up" in a REALLY weird way. In general, he knows the technical side very well...professionalism...eh, not so much. He has no problem screwing around with things during a show, just to see how things react. That's an engineer for you. Me, on the other hand, I'm not comfortable with doing that. Nevertheless, since he's being doing the show FAR longer than I, I let him do what he wanted, because at first, I thought he knew what he was doing. I actually listened to some of the stuff today, and I realized it sounded much better than I thought it did. However, there are the fuck-ups that you mentioned. I wish I could have prevented them, but we were really frustrated upstairs. In between songs, we'd have the vocal/host mics all the way up, ungated, and we couldn't hear a thing. Then the song starts, and everything goes to hell, and we've got to fix it. Not being able to see what ppl are doing is a really difficult way to mix sound. I don't think it's a complete loss though. With some careful work, I think I can make something useful out of the recording.

Dude, all I can say is DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. It's totally listenable and everyone I've spoken to who heard it said it sounded good. The only complaints I got were about the conversations in between but hell, it's the metal that counts!! We're probably better off that noone could hear our banter in between tunes anyway. I think you guys have the potential of really making it sound excellent. There are just some environmental circumstances to overcome. So, with that in mind....Keep the rock alive!!

Mike

Nah I knew which Dan you meant. After you posted this, I found your email in my junk mail box, so that's why I didn't get the reminder. I fixed it though.

Hi Everyone,
Here's another shameless plug to let everyone know that we have .mp3's available at our site along with t's, CD's, and we launched a new forum not too long ago. Get a good dose of swedish death influenced black/grind/sludge metal at http://www.withered.net.

Ha, Just kidding, we'll never forget our homies in the ATL. and well, I'm not sure about the prospect of "mega-big". Maybe we need to get a DJ who can scratch records during our concerts. I can finallly start wearing some bling.
Ok, I'm going to bed now. getting too delerious.........
