Since we have an interesting mix of people on here, I'm curious to see how you all acquire your music.

Wow, I'm the first to vote. So we have a 100% for person to person!
Usually, it goes like this: if I like what I hear online, I will then go buy it in the store.

I have been burned by terrible CDs in the past, so I always download them before I buy.

i get all my shit online, i only buy some bands/side projects stuff without hearing it first...best thing about online is that you can always find a website somewhere that has at least a small sample

I download it on Soulseek and then if I REALLY like it , I usually order a copy. Why spend all my money buying garbage music , just to hear only like ONE good song. If any...

Buy it. If you don't like it, trade it off.

I usually buy them in stores or I'll have the store order it for me or I'll use a mail order catalogue.

I get almost all of my CDs -- and virtually all of the obscure metal ones -- online nowadays. ProgPower was a rare exception because a lot of my online dealers were there in person. Instant gratification without the hassle of opening a big box. \m/

I get a fair number of CDs at the Atlanta Record Show, also, almost all from Exploding Ned's Tunes, who's pretty much the only metal guy there.

I'd drive up to DeathGasm Records, but Alex keeps bringing me down cool shit to play (and buy) at WREKage. :D

I usually listen before I buy, but I like a lot of stuff.

I usually just break down and buy the cds in stores. I rely more on album reviews from various websites to figure out if I'll like something or not since I have literally no space left on my computer to download anything, and is probably why I enjoy writing reviews for Wrekage so much, since I try my best to convey what an album's about for anyone hanging on the fence about buying it or not.

Surprisingly the Media Play near where I live has an awesome supply of metal cd's. Just about every cd I've played from my own collection on the show has come from Media Play over the years.

I get most of my stuff ordered from one of the local record stores here in Athens. Every now and then they actually have something in stock. I usually read reviews and get some mp3s online first though.
Fuck it, Dude, let's go bowling.

I download as well, then buy what I like.

I buy from www.half.com, ebay, or www.alldirect.com. All Direct has the best prices for new CDs I've ever seen. They usually don't get new releases right away though. I've started ordering DVDs and books from them too.

If I know somthing has more than 50 copies in circulation, I just avoid it entirely because its wayyy to trendy for me.

Most of the music I own I just record myself and limit circulation to 3 copies..both of the other copies going to my parents.

I usually buy music at the store. The only time I download is when there is a band that is up and coming. I'm really against all of that napster-like crap anyway.
