That's not true, is it? I've never been to the Clairmont. I've lived in Atlanta for almost 10 years and I have yet to see Dolly (or whatever her name is--the one who smashes beer cans between her tits).V03GTLIN wrote:Aw fuck yeah. I was looking for a reason to go before it's turned into lofts anyways.
Are the strippers going to dance to the music of Withered?
Is Withered going to grind on a stripper pole?
It's Blondie. The strippers don't really dance to the bands music... be cooler if they did.Moloc wrote:That's not true, is it? I've never been to the Clairmont. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the Clermont Hotel is up for sale. I assume the "Lounge" is part of the Hotel and will be sold as such. Don't think the purchaser, whomever he/she may be, will keep the "Lounge" going in its current incarnation.Moloc wrote:That's not true, is it? I've never been to the Clairmont. When I turned 21, the Clermont had shows going every Thurs night. It was brutal. I was working as a cook at a shithole Steak & Ale, and every goddamn Friday afternoon I would come slithering in, having drunk my weight in $2.50 well drinks and Bud cans.

Moloc and I just drove past there on Saturday, on our way to the Drunken Unicorn. The Lounge has a sign proudly proclaiming, "We're Still Open!"V03GTLIN wrote:According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the Clermont Hotel is up for sale. Who knows if they are two separate properties or not.

Conversely, it is hard to imagine the hotel being sold with the Lounge still in operation. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt that yuppies are going to want to buy condos in a historic building when there is the constant thump of bass from the basement.
Not to mention all the PBR that must be recycled on Friday and Saturday nights in the parking lot.

Valid. Probably a new owner of the hotel would have to make the lounge owner a deal they couldn't refuse to get them to come off that place.
To actually renovate that building for condo sales would take millions. I can't really imagine that happening in this economy. I heard on Elyse Glink (sp?) the other day that 1/2 the current home sales in ATL are for forclosures or short sales. Who would want to take the risk on investing millions in the Clermont in this climate?
But, like Masquerade all the supposed sales and extended rumors have led to nothing so far.
Who knows what's really happening, much less what will happen....?
