Just saw this posted in the concerts section.
I've heard the album The August Empire which I think is very cool. Quite creative with a bit of an epic/grand feel to it.
I just found out it has members (or ex-members) of Gwar and L7, but sounds nothing like either. Anyone else heard them?
I'll be checking out their show Friday. Anyone else?

Jim from Lamentations of the Flame Princess emailed that in. He had huge praise for the band.

If anyone wants tickets, we have them (I think prolly 2 pair). If you're interested Dan, or anyone else, let me know and I'll write your name down for the guest list tomorrow. We saw the tickets in the contest book Friday night, but we didn't know who they were, and we didn't figure anyone else knew them either or that they were even remotely metal.

Bob - I saw Jim's coverage of them in one of his issues. He dedicated a huge amount of space to them. I checked them out based on that and I think they're very good.

Dan - I'm interested! I'm interested! :) I think you would really enjoy them too.

Check out samples here.

Damn, I justed check out some of their stuff, sounds AWESOME. I still don't know what the status of WREKage is this week (hopefully I'll know within the next day or two) but if there isn't a show, I'll DEFINITELY be at the Echo Lounge. Hell, I might see if Greg can cover a while after hearing their stuff! :m3t4l:

Oh yeah, I'll stick your name in the contest book Dan, if no one has given away the tickets (I'm fairly certain no one has).

Dan - awesome dude. I guess I can find out by showtime if I'm on the list or not. If not I can swing $8

Amanda - I think the show is 21+

I'll let you know tomorrow. The hardest part will probably be finding the contest book. It's probably still in the old studio....... <_<

I can be there early if you want to go, assuming we're still having a show this week.

It was a great show. I'm going to do a review for the show and their album. It was a DAMN shame that they had such a small crowd. I hope the next time they come to town (I hope they tour again, primarily) we'll be able to give them a better show.

One of the best shows I've ever seen by any band.
Superb range of dynamics that they pulled off very well.
You couldn't hear the death vocals as well as the clean ones though.
