Here's a funny story: In 1996 The Misfits, Anthrax, and Cannibal Corpse played the Masquerade and I got to interview Alex Webster for my college radio station at the time. We just hung out on the bus all night after show for the interview. Various members of Cannibal Corpse were coming and going from the bus from Taco Bell or a strip club.
It was a crazy concert where Anthrax stopped playing right after they started Indians. Someone threw a beer bottle on stage and Scott Ian was PISSED. Video here: https://youtu.be/2G7WPfQqpGw
Also, some guy got on stage during The Misfits set and I don't know why, or didn't see what happened to cause this, but Michael Graves put the dude in a headlock and punched him in the head repeatedly.
So at one point George Corpsegrinder boards the bus pissed off, "You won't believe what just happened to me." Then he spots me sitting there with my tape recorder. He asks me for it and says, "Just so I know you're not recording me," and he removes the tape out of the recorder and holds onto it. He continues, "I was coming up to the bus when someone was hiding with a 2x4 or something and says to me, 'Where's the Misfits, bitch?' I said to him, 'First of all I'm not a bitch, and second of all I don't fucking know.'" He probably said a lot more than that, but I remember that part. Of course we're all like, holy shit! Then he hands me back the tape and tape recorder.
So then it's super late and my friends and I need to drive home to Alabama ( I wasn't living in Atlanta yet). Alex goes, "Hey, I don't know if it's on your way, but... could you give me a ride to Taco Bell?" Of course I said sure and we drove over. It was an even more relaxed atmosphere and we just made regular conversation about stuff other than metal. Didn't expect to have Alex Webster in my passenger seat and drive him to Taco Bell that night.
